Chokojiyama Kofun

Japanese: 長光寺山古墳 - ちょうこうじやまこふん

This keyhole-shaped tumulus is located in Koori, Sanyo-cho, Asa-gun, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It stands on the top of a hill 60m above sea level overlooking the Asa Basin, with the front part facing southwest facing the mountain and the rear circular mound facing the basin. The tumulus was excavated in 1881 and artifacts were removed. It continued to be illegally excavated afterwards, but in 1971 Ono Tadaaki carried out the first academic excavation, bringing new knowledge. The tumulus is 62m long, with a diameter of 37m at the rear circular mound and a width of 26m at the front, and contains roofing stones and haniwa clay figures. The rear circular mound has two pit-type stone chambers aligned from east to west.

山口県厚狭（あさ）郡山陽町郡（こおり）に所在する前方後円墳。厚狭盆地を見下ろす標高60mの丘陵頂にあり，南西面する前方部を山側に，後円部を盆地側に向けて営まれる。1881年に古墳をあばき，遺物を取りだした。その後もなお密掘を受けたが，1971年に小野忠凞が初めて学術発掘を行い，新しい知見が加わった。古墳は全長62m，後円部径37m，前方部幅26mを測り，葺石（ふきいし），埴輪を有する。後円部に，東西に並ぶ竪穴式石室2基を備える。
