Cho Kwang-jo (English spelling)

Japanese: 趙光祖 - ちょうこうそ（英語表記）Cho Kwang‐jo

A Confucian scholar and official of the Yi Dynasty in Korea. His pen name was Kochok. His pen name was Seian. He was from Hanyang. He was a disciple of Kim Hong-pil, who inherited the academic tradition of Kitsusai, and studied Neo-Confucianism, becoming a leader of the Sarin. He gained the trust of Jungjong by preaching the realization of kingly politics, and implemented the Xianliangka and abolished the Sogekso (Taoist temple). However, he appointed many of his own samurai and engaged in radical behavior, so he was falsely accused by Namkon and other former samurai. His entire party was condemned, and he was exiled to Yeongju and executed (Ki-mo-sa-ga). He wrote the Seianshu (Collection of the Confucian).

朝鮮，李朝の文臣，儒者。字は孝直。号は静庵。漢陽の人。吉再（きつさい）の学統を継ぐ金宏弼（きんこうひつ）の門人で朱子学を修め，士林の領袖となる。王道政治の実現を説いて中宗の信任を得，賢良科の実施，昭格署(道教の寺院)の廃止などを行ったが，自派の士類を多く登用し，過激な言動があったため，南袞（なんこん）ら勲旧勢力の誣告（ぶこく）を受け，一党はことごとく断罪，彼も綾州に流され賜死した(己卯士禍)。著書に《静庵集》がある。
