A unit system for electromagnetism. Electrical quantities are expressed in electrostatic units, and magnetic quantities in electromagnetic units. The permittivity of a vacuum is ε 0 = 1, and the magnetic permeability is μ 0 = 1, so electricity and magnetism are well symmetric in Maxwell's equations. 電磁気の単位系の一。電気に関する物理量を静電単位、磁気に関する物理量を電磁単位で表す。真空の誘電率ε0＝1、透磁率μ0＝1となり、マクスウェルの方程式などで電気と磁気の対称性がよい。CGS単位系によって表されるため、CGSガウス単位系ともいう。
