〘Noun〙① The name of the color of layered kimono . The front is white and the back is safflower ( Shozoku Iroi (1778)). Used at the beginning of spring. White plum. ② Plum blossoms facing backwards. *Haiku poem, Gyodai Kushu (1809), Vol. 1: "When the fire is lit, the plum blossoms can be easily seen on the back." ③ One of the crests. A stylized design of plum blossoms from the back. *Kabuki, Tsukue Edo Koude Tatsuhin (Ude no Kisaburo) (1863), Second Act: "The plum blossoms on the back are the standard crest of Oteru-dono."
