Tanbara [town] - Tanbara

Japanese: 丹原[町] - たんばら

A former town in Shuso District, northern Ehime Prefecture. The central settlement was planned and built by the Matsuyama Domain in the early Edo period as a distribution center for mountain village goods. In addition to producing high-quality rice, the town is also known for its thriving fruit cultivation, including mandarin oranges and persimmons, and greenhouse horticulture, including chrysanthemums and roses. In November 2004, it was incorporated into Toyo City, Komatsu Town in Shuso District, and Saijo City. ^{129.10 km2} . Population: 13,899 (2003).

愛媛県北部，周桑(しゅうそう)郡の旧町。中心集落は江戸時代前期松山藩が山村物資の集散地として計画的につくった町。良質の米を産するほか，ミカン，カキなどの果樹栽培，キク，バラなどのハウス園芸が盛ん。2004年11月東予市，周桑郡小松町と西条市へ編入。129.10km²。１万3899人（2003）。
