Battle of Chaeronea - Battle of Chaeronea
A battle fought in Chaeronea, a city in northwestern Boeotia and a strategic point on the way to central Greece from the north. (1) In 338 BC, Philip II, King of Macedonia, defeated the combined forces of Thebes and Athens, establishing his hegemony over Greece. (2) In 86 BC, the Roman general Sulla defeated Mithridates VI, King of Pontus.
