Tano [town] - Tano
A former town in Miyazaki County in the southern part of Miyazaki Prefecture. A mountain and agricultural region in the upper reaches of the Kiyotake River, it produces taro, radishes, tobacco leaves, and tea, and also cultivates seedlings. It is a specialty of the town, known as "hardashi oil" made from the fruit of the camellia. It is served by the Nippon Main Line and the Miyazaki Expressway. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Miyazaki City along with Takaoka Town in Higashimorokata County and Sadowara Town in Miyazaki County. 108.30 km2 . Population: 12,263 (2003).

Tano [town] [tano]

A town in Aki district, eastern Kochi prefecture, at the mouth of the Nahari River. Upstream is the Yanase National Forest, and there is a large lumberyard, making the town a thriving lumber industry. Greenhouse cultivation of eggplants, peppers, and other crops, and coastal fishing are also carried out. Area: 6.53 km2 . Population: 2,932 (2010).
