A town in Oi County, on the western edge of Fukui Prefecture. The town's main settlement, on the Obama Line, is a fishing port facing Takahama Bay, a tributary of Wakasa Bay, and is a distribution center for seafood through which the Tango Highway (National Route 27) passes. It is part of the Wakasa Bay Quasi-National Park, and in the west is the scenic Otomi Cliffs and the scenic Aobayama mountain, which offers a good view. Area: 72.40 km2 . Population: 11,062 (2010).
