Garanbi

The southernmost cape on the island of Taiwan. Its name comes from the language of the Paiwan people, and it is also commonly called Taiwan tail. Eluanbi Lighthouse, 18km south of Hengchun, a town at the southern tip of Taiwan, was built in 1882 at the request of foreign countries following the sinking of an American ship at the end of the Qing Dynasty. Between it and Maobitou Cape to the west, it surrounds South Port, and the entire cape is made up of raised coral reefs and covered with low green trees. Together with Kenting Tropical Botanical Garden, about 10km north, and the scenery of strange rocks and stones at Chia Luo Shui Beach facing the Pacific Ocean, it is one of southern Taiwan's greatest scenic spots.

台湾島最南端の岬。その名はパイワン族の言語に由来し、俗に台湾尾(たいわんび)ともよぶ。台湾島南端の町恒春(こうしゅん／ホンチュウン)の南18キロメートルにある鵞鑾鼻灯台は、清(しん)末のアメリカ船の遭難を契機に、1882年外国の要請で建設された。西の猫鼻頭(びょうびとう)岬との間に南港を囲み、岬一帯は隆起サンゴ礁からなり、低緑樹に覆われている。北方約10キロメートルにある墾丁(こんてい)熱帯植物公園、太平洋に面する佳洛水(からくすい)ビーチの奇岩異石の景観とあわせて、南台湾最大の名勝地となっている。
