Olympic Committee - Is the Olympics okay?

There are the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the National Olympic Committees (NOCs). The IOC was founded in Paris on June 23, 1894, at the suggestion of French educator Coubertin. The IOC's objectives are (1) to promote the development of the physical and mental qualities that are the basis of sports, (2) to educate young people in a spirit of better mutual understanding and friendship through sports, thereby contributing to the construction of a better, more peaceful world, (3) to spread the principles of the Olympic movement throughout the world, thereby inspiring international friendship, and (4) to bring together athletes (competitors) from around the world to take part in the Olympic Games, a great sporting event held once every four years.

国際オリンピック委員会International Olympic Committee(略称IOC)と国内オリンピック委員会National Olympic Committee(略称NOC)がある。　IOCは，フランスの教育学者クーベルタンの提唱で，1894年6月23日パリで創立された。IOCの目的は，(1)スポーツの基調をなす肉体的･精神的資質の発達を促進する，(2)スポーツを通じて，青少年に相互のよりよき理解と友好の精神を教育し，それによって，よりよき，より平和な世界の建設に寄与する，(3)世界にオリンピック運動の原則を普及し，それによって国際親善を喚起する，(4)世界のアスリート(競技者)を，4年に1度の偉大なスポーツ祭典，オリンピック大会に参集させることにある。
