A nationalist political party formed in June 1931. The Black Dragon Society's Ryohei Uchida (who became president) and Masuzo Yoshida played key roles, and 19 other groups, including the Black Dragon Society and the Japanese Nationalist Party, participated in the first convention held in November of the same year. At first, the party advocated "Greater Japanism," but after the Radical Patriotic Party (Tsukui Tatsuo) and some labor unions joined in January 1932, the party adopted national socialist policies such as "overthrowing the financial oligarchy." It stood out among the right-wing movements of the time by lobbying labor unions to create sub-organizations such as the Greater Japan Productive Party Occupational Union Federation, and by focusing on organizing small and medium-sized businesses, land and house leasehold tenants, and the peasant movement. In December 1931, the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party) proposed an alliance, and Uchida met with its representative Don Gad, who was visiting Japan, which is also worth noting. However, the movement stagnated after many of the party's executives were arrested in the Shinpeitai Incident in 1958. The party was dissolved in 1967 to become the ideological group Dai-Nihon Shinkai, which was dissolved in January 1971 by a memorandum from GHQ (Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers). Although its character has changed, postwar right-wing groups that followed in its footsteps include the Dai-Nihon Seisatsu Party (currently headed by Kamoda Tokuichi), founded in 1954, and the Kokumin Doshikai (currently headed by Yoshida Naomasa), which was organized by Yoshida Masuzo in 1981.
