An evergreen tall tree of the Mulberry family. It was once used to collect rubber, but is rarely used now. It is also called the Mexican rubber tree or the American rubber tree. Its English names include Castilloa rubber tree, Central American rubber tree, Panama rubber tree, and Mexican rubber tree. It grows to a height of 20 to 30 meters, with alternate leaves on soft, hairy branches. The leaves have short petioles, are oblong, and are 20 to 40 cm long.
