...It is a biphenyl compound with two benzenes linked together, with chlorine atoms attached, and there are many isomers depending on the position and number of chlorines. It has been produced in Japan since 1954, and sold under the trade names Kanechlor (Kanefuchi Chemical) and Aroclor (Mitsubishi Monsanto). It has excellent stability, non-flammability, and electrical insulation properties, and has been widely used in capacitors, transformer insulating oil, heat transfer medium, lubricating oil, plasticizer, printing ink, paint, pressure-sensitive paper, etc.
