Prezzolini, Giuseppe
Born: January 27, 1882 in Perugia
[Died] July 14, 1982. Lugano, Switzerland. Italian critic. Influenced by pragmatism and the philosophies of Bergson and Croce, he founded and edited the magazines Leonardo in 1903 and Voce in 1908. He also contributed to major magazines and newspapers, and played a leading role in the intellectual world before World War I. He was friends with Mussolini, advocated for participation in the war, and eventually sympathized with Fascism. He continued to publish works after that while maintaining a conservative position. His major works include La cultura italiana (Italian Culture) (1923), L'italiano inutile (The Useless Italian) (1954), I trapiantati (The Migrants) (1963), Cristo e/o Machiavelli (Christ and/or Machiavelli) (1971), Manifesto dei conservatori (Conservative Manifesto) (1972), and Italia fragile (Fragile Italy) (1974).
