Daan [town] - Daian
An old town in Inabe County in northern Mie Prefecture. It occupies the eastern slope of the Suzuka Mountains and the alluvial plain along the Inabe River. It was once the property of Daian-ji Temple, one of the Seven Great Temples of Nanto. Rice cultivation is thriving, and dairy farming and tea production are also carried out. In recent years, companies have also moved into the area. The Sangi Railway runs through the area. In December 2003, it merged with the towns of Hokusei, Inabe, and Fujiwara in Inabe County to form Inabe City. 44.60 km2 . Population: 15,399 (2003).
