Born on November 23, 1906. Became a professor at his alma mater, Tokyo Imperial University, in 1944. Became a professor at Seikei University in 1967, and president in 1969. He led the postwar reform of commercial law. He also specialized in labor law, and served as chairman of the Central Labor Relations Commission. Died on July 16, 1973, aged 66.
