[Military rule to civilian rule]
However, the implementation of this industry-oriented policy led to a slump in agriculture and livestock production and sluggish export growth, and the Peronist government was ousted in a coup in 1955 without being able to present an effective economic policy, and military and civilian governments were alternated thereafter. While an economic liberal approach was adopted during the military period, a nationalistic approach was pursued under civilian governments, and this tendency was particularly strong under the Radical Party's Illya government (1963-66) and the Peronista government (1973-76). The Peronista government suffered from serious political instability and economic problems due to weakened governance and failed economic policies, and was ousted in a military coup in March 1976. The military government that came to power afterwards switched to economic liberalism.
