A town in Ikoma County in the northwest of Nara Prefecture. The town's name comes from Ikaruga Palace. It is home to Horyu-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), Chuguji Temple (World Heritage Site), Hokki-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), and Horin-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), and the Tatsuta River, famous for its autumn leaves, flows through the town, leading to the nickname Ikaruga Village. Pear, grape, and strawberry cultivation is thriving here. The Kansai Main Line runs through the town. Area 14.27 km2 . Population 27,734 (2010).
