A town in Ikoma County in the northwest of Nara Prefecture. The town's name comes from Ikaruga Palace. It is home to Horyu-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), Chuguji Temple (World Heritage Site), Hokki-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), and Horin-ji Temple (World Heritage Site), and the Tatsuta River, famous for its autumn leaves, flows through the town, leading to the nickname Ikaruga Village. Pear, grape, and strawberry cultivation is thriving here. The Kansai Main Line runs through the town. Area 14.27 km2 . Population 27,734 (2010). 奈良県北西部，生駒(いこま)郡の町。町名は斑鳩宮にちなむ。法隆寺（世界遺産），中宮寺（世界遺産），法起(ほっき)寺（世界遺産），法輪寺（世界遺産）があり，紅葉の名所竜田川が流れ，斑鳩の里の名で親しまれている。ナシ，ブドウ，イチゴの栽培が盛ん。関西本線が通じる。14.27km2。２万7734人（2010）。
