Japanese: 新花摘 - しんはなつみ

A haiku book from the late Edo period. Written by Yosa Buson. Illustrations and postscript by Gekkei. One volume. Published in Kansei 9 (1797). In the summer of An'ei 6 (77), Buson decided to write 10 haiku a day, following Kikaku's "Hana-zukuri," probably for the memorial of his late mother. He completed 128 haiku over 16 days, but stopped after adding 7 more due to exhaustion. After he had calmed down, he added reminiscences from before he settled in Kyoto, such as a story about Kikaku's "Gogenshu," a discussion of antiques, a story about five foxes and raccoons, and a letter from Kikaku. In Tenmei 4 (84), after Buson's death, he compiled the booklet-style manuscript into a scroll, adding Gekkei's illustrations and postscript, and published a facsimile of the original 13 years later. A masterpiece by Buson that harmonizes hokku and haiku poetry.

江戸時代後期の俳書。与謝蕪村著。月渓画，跋。大本1冊。寛政9 (1797) 年刊。蕪村は安永6 (77) 年夏，其角の『花摘』にならい，おそらく亡母追善のために，1日 10句をつくる夏行 (げぎょう) を思い立ち，16日間 128句までおおむね実行したが，あとは所労のため7句を追加しただけで中絶した。その後落ち着いてから，これに京都定住以前の回想談，すなわち其角の『五元集』に関する話，骨董論，5つの狐狸談，其角の手紙の話などを加えたもの。蕪村没後の天明4 (84) 年，冊子であった自筆草稿を巻子本 (かんすぼん) にする際，月渓の挿絵と跋文を加え，さらに 13年後に原本を模刻出版した。発句と俳文とが調和した蕪村の傑作。
