A type of printing plate used in printing; a reproduction of a typesetting plate made to protect against wear and tear caused by mass printing. Also called a stereotype. The paper form is placed in a mold and molten lead alloy is poured into it to cast it. The lead alloy is an alloy of lead, tin, and antimony, just like type. Flatbed printing presses use flat cast lead plates, while rotary printing presses use cylindrical round lead plates. → Related items CTS | Stereotypes | Toppan Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
