Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Japanese: 心肺蘇生術 - しんぱいそせいじゅつ（英語表記）cardio‐pulmonary resuscitation

This is a procedure to restore cardiac and pulmonary function and resuscitate a person when cardiac or pulmonary function has deteriorated or stopped, causing breathing and heartbeat to stop and resulting in death. First, artificial respiration is performed for respiratory dysfunction or respiratory arrest, and cardiac massage is performed to restore cardiac function. If cardiac function has deteriorated or stopped due to arrhythmia, percussion, a pacemaker, or electrical defibrillation is performed. At the same time, an electrocardiogram and blood pressure measuring device are used to check the state of circulation and breathing, and the partial pressure of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood is measured to determine the breathing state.

心臓や肺の機能が著しく低下あるいは停止して，呼吸や拍動が停止し，死にしたとき，心肺機能を回復させて蘇生させる処置をいう。まず呼吸機能障害や呼吸停止に対しては人工呼吸を行い，心臓機能を回復させるために心臓マッサージを行う。心機能が不整脈によって低下または停止している場合は，叩打やペースメーカーまたは電気的除細動を行う。同時に循環の状態や呼吸状態をチェックするために，心電図や血圧測定装置でモニターを行うとともに，呼吸状態を知るために血液中の酸素･二酸化炭素分圧の測定を行う。
