Naniwazu
[1][1] A port in Naniwa-e in ancient times. As trade with overseas countries opened up, it flourished as a key seaport. Ports included Sumie (Sumiyoshi) Port and Otomo-no-Mito Port. ※Man'yoshu (late 8th century) 20.4330 "Dressed up in Naniwa -tsu , will I set out today without a mother to see?" [2] The title of a poem written by Wani : "Will these flowers bloom in Naniwa -tsu ? In winter, will these flowers bloom in spring?" Along with Asakayama's poem, it was used at the beginning of calligraphy lessons, so it is also used to mean the beginning of calligraphy lessons. ※Genji (around 1001-14) Wakamurasaki: “If I have not yet succeeded in this splendid work, it is useless.”[2] [noun] (derived from (1) and (2)) The way of waka poetry. The road to Naniwa-tsu. ※Akehira Orai (maybe mid-11th century) Nakamoto: “ Though frequent , there is no communication without a response . One day I sent him from Naniwa- tsu .”[Essay] (1) During the dismantling and repair of the five-story pagoda of Horyu-ji Temple, fragments of the poems in (1) and (2) written in Man’yōgana were discovered, suggesting that these poems have been popular since ancient times.
(2)(i)(i) has four poems in the Manyoshu, but only two in the Hachidaishu. It has never been written in the Goshuishū or later collections, which contrasts with the poem "Naba-e."
(3) On the other hand, the "naniwazu no uta" (Poems of the Seven Seasons) mentioned in the explanations of (1) and (2) help maintain its vitality. It is often used in prose as a "song of practice," and by extension, it has survived to later generations as a term referring to the "way of waka poetry" in (2).

[1][一] 古代、難波江にあった港。海外との交通が開けるとともに、海路の要港として栄えた。墨江(住吉)の津・大伴の御津などが含まれた。※万葉(8C後)二〇・四三三〇「奈爾波都(ナニハツ)に装(よそ)ひ装ひて今日の日や出でて罷らむ見る母なしに」[二] 王仁(わに)が詠(よ)んだという「難波津に咲くや此の花冬ごもり今は春べと咲くや此の花」の歌の称。浅香山の歌とともに手習いの始めに用いたので、手習いの初歩の意味にもいう。※源氏(1001‐14頃)若紫「まだなにはづをだに、はかばかしく続け侍らざめれば、かひなくなん」[2] 〘名〙 ((一)(二)から転じて) 和歌の道。難波津の道。※明衡往来(11C中か)中本「頻雖消息響応之気。一日以難波津古風之」[語誌](1)法隆寺五重塔の解体修理に際して、万葉仮名で書かれた(一)(二)の歌の断片が発見されたところから、この歌が古くから普及していたものと考えられる。
(2)(一)(一)を詠んだ歌は「万葉集」には四例あるが、八代集では二例のみで、「後拾遺集」以下全く詠まれず、歌語「難波江」と対照をなす。
(3)その一方で(一)(二)の解説中に挙げた「なにはづの歌」によってその生命力を維持することになる。散文の中で多く「手習いの歌」の謂で用いられ、転じて(二)の「和歌の道」を指す語として後世へ生き延びる。
