...An international organization for proletarian literature was the International Bureau of Proletkrit, which was established in 1920 and reorganized as the International Bureau of Revolutionary Literature in 1925. At the bureau's second conference held in Kharkov in 1930, bringing together proletarian writers from 22 countries, the organization was renamed the International Union of Revolutionary Writers (Mezhdunarodnoe ob'edinenie revolyutsionnykh pisatelei) and played a major role in international exchange of proletarian and revolutionary literature until its dissolution in 1935. [Japan]
Japanese proletarian literature gradually attracted attention from the beginning of the 1920s, and by 1930 it had overwhelmed the literary world. After the Manchurian Incident in 1931, it began to disintegrate due to intensifying repression, and disappeared in its entirety around 1935. It encompasses a wide range of works, from simple expressions of the lives and voices of workers and apprentices to literary activities that were part of the revolutionary movement led by the Communist Party.
