Also known as interfacial polarization. A type of dielectric polarization induced when an ionic crystal is subjected to an external electric field, causing the positive and negative ions to be displaced to the opposite sides. Ionic polarization contributes greatly to polarization in electrostatic or low-frequency electric fields, but does not contribute to polarization in high-frequency electric fields above audible frequencies, because the ions cannot keep up with the field. 界面分極ともいう。外部から電場を受けているイオン結晶の陽イオンと陰イオンがそれぞれ反対側に変位され,誘起される誘電分極の1種。イオン分極は,静電場または低周波電場に対しては分極への寄与が大きいが,可聴周波数以上の高周波電場に対してはイオンの運動がついてゆけないので分極への寄与はない。
