Shiraito Falls

This waterfall is located in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, at the western foot of Mt. Fuji. It spans the Shiba River, a tributary of the Fuji River, and is about 150 meters wide. The sight of the water falling like bamboo blinds on a wall about 20 meters high is unique, and it has been designated a national scenic spot and natural monument. It is said that the water source is the underground spring water of the Fuji volcano and the underground water of the Shiba River. Adjacent to it on the east side is Otodomenotaki Falls. The Fujinomiya Road (National Route 139) runs through it, and it is also the base of the Fuji Tourist Route, and the Asagiri Plateau spreads out to the north. In 2013, Shiraitonotaki was registered on the World Heritage List as "Mt. Fuji - a place of worship and a source of artistic inspiration" along with the Mt. Fuji region, surrounding shrines, Oshino Hakkai, and other constituent assets.

静岡県富士宮市、富士山西麓(せいろく)にある滝。富士川の支流芝川にかかり、幅約150メートル。高さ約20メートルの壁面にすだれのように落下する景観は特異であり、国の名勝・天然記念物に指定されている。水源は富士火山の伏流水の湧水(ゆうすい)と芝川の伏流水からなるといわれる。隣接して東側には音止ノ滝(おとどめのたき)がある。富士宮道路（国道139号）が通り、富士周遊観光ルートの拠点でもあり、北方には朝霧(あさぎり)高原が広がる。2013年（平成25）に白糸ノ滝は富士山域や周辺の神社、忍野八海(おしのはっかい)等の構成資産とともに「富士山―信仰の対象と芸術の源泉」として世界文化遺産リストに登録された。
