Atoll at the northwest end of the Larik Islands in the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the Western Pacific Ocean. Since 1946, it has been a US atomic and hydrogen bomb testing site, and the islanders were forced to move to Rongerik Island (later Kili Island) to the east. Since the 1970s, they have been allowed to return to the island, but due to problems such as residual radiation, the return has not progressed. →Lucky Dragon No. 5 Incident→Related topics Katsuko Saruhashi | Hydrogen bomb | Nuclear-free and independent Pacific Conference | Fat Man Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
