History of the Hands

This is an expansion of Japan's first encyclopedia, "Kuchizusami" by Minamoto Tamenori (?-1011), by Miyoshi Tameyasu (1049-1139). The year of its creation has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed to have been compiled between 1122 (Hoan 3) and 1124 at the end of the Heian period. The Honcho Shojaku Mokuroku lists this work as four volumes, but only the first volume remains. Furthermore, there are no originals or old copies, and all copies are from the Edo period. The extant version contains astronomical almanac, solar almanac, seasonal almanac, chronological almanac, geographical almanac, provincial border almanac, and kansho almanac. The chapters and contents of the missing parts can be inferred from "Nichu-reki," which was compiled with reference to this book and other sources. This book included in "Kojishi Sokan" is a facsimile of Kariya Ekisai's "Shutakubon." It is also included in the "Zoku Gunsho Ruiju" miscellaneous section.
