Compiled by Shimizu Masatake (1856-1934). Born in Mito, Shimizu became a disciple of Kurita Hiroshi, the last scholar to compile the Dai Nihonshi and the author of Shoen-Ko, and entered the Shokokan in 1882, where he worked on the revision of the Dai Nihonshi. After leaving the institution in 1896, he continued his research on his own while teaching, completing this book in 1921, which covers all the manors in various provinces by prefecture and district, and cites relevant historical materials for each one. It was published in 1933 with the support of the Keimei-kai (republished by Kadokawa Shoten in 1965). Shimizu believed that the development of manors was a detriment to the Emperor's control over the land and the people, and attempted to investigate the true nature of manors from that perspective.
