King of Assyria. Reigned 1813-1781 BC. The last 11-12 years of his reign overlapped with the beginning of the reign of King Hammurapi of Babylon. His father was Irakabkab. He appears to have stayed in Babylonia for a time, but eventually went north and occupied Ekaratum, then expelled the Assyrian king at the time, Erishum II, and became king of Assyria himself. He was not of Assyrian origin but of Amorite (Amorites) descent, and is known to have shared the same ancestors as King Hammurapi's family.
