〘自ラ下一〙 しび・る 〘自ラ下二〙① 体の全体または一部の感覚がなくなり、運動の自由がきかなくなる。※漢書列伝竺桃抄(1458‐60)賈誼第十八「痱はしびるるやまいぞ」② 正常な思考能力や感情、気力が麻痺する。激しく感情が高まって酔ったようになる。※浄瑠璃・平家女護島(1719)三「あくる障子の内、〈略〉見るよりぞっと身もしびれ」※猟銃(1949)〈井上靖〉みどりの手紙「スピードの美しさだけが私の全感覚をしびれさせてゐる最中ですもの」③ 電気などを感じてびりびりふるえる。

しびり【痺】

[1] 〘名〙 =しびれ(痺)〔天正本節用集(1590)〕※虎明本狂言・痺(室町末‐近世初)「これはしびりがおこって立居さへなりませぬ」[2] 狂言の曲名。各流。太郎冠者が仮病のしびりを口実に主の使いの依頼をことわる。それを見抜いた主が、伯父(おじ)のごちそうに呼ばれたというと、太郎冠者は治ったと言い、主がもう一度用を頼むと、またしびりがおこったとすわりこむ。

しびれ【痺】

〘名〙 (動詞「しびれる(痺)」の連用形の名詞化) 感覚異常の一つ。神経系あるいは循環系の障害により、運動神経、または知覚神経が侵された状態となり、運動麻痺、知覚麻痺を起こす。しびり。〔和玉篇(15C後)〕※俳諧・二葉の松(1690)「しびれ来る迄かしこまりけり 御手届く花のはしごに肩献(あげ)て」
