...Although it is originally a northern plant, its distribution in the Seto Inland Sea is thought to be due to the influence of trade in the past. Toadflax vulgaris Mill. (English name: toadflax), found from Europe to Korea, has been naturalized in Hokkaido and Nagano Prefecture, while toadflax canadensis (L.) Dum., native to North America, has become naturalized in the Kinki region. There are over 100 species of toadflax and its related species, and because of their beautiful flowers, they are often planted in flower beds.
