A novel written by Kosugi Tengai. Published in 1903 ( Meiji 36 ). A tragic love story centering around Hagiwara Hatsuno, a student at the Imperial Women's Academy. It depicts the cutting-edge customs of male and female students at the time and was a groundbreaking success as a newspaper novel.
