Algebraic system

A set that is given several algorithms (operations) and actions is called an algebraic system. Representative algebraic systems include groups, rings, fields, Boolean algebras, and vector spaces. A group is an algebraic system with only one algorithm, while rings, fields, and Boolean algebras have two algorithms. A vector space is an algebraic system with one algorithm called vector addition and one action called scalar product.

Although each algebraic system has its own theory, what they all have in common is the study of the properties that are preserved by isomorphisms and homomorphisms of each algebraic system (e.g. groups), and the study of their characterization under certain conditions.

いくつかの算法（演算）と作用の与えられている集合を代数系という。群、環、体、ブール代数、ベクトル空間などが代表的な代数系である。群はただ一つの算法をもつ代数系であるし、環、体、ブール代数は二つの算法をもつ。ベクトル空間はベクトルの加法とよばれる一つの算法と、スカラー積とよばれる一つの作用の与えられた代数系である。

　それぞれの代数系には固有の理論があるけれども、共通している点は、それぞれの代数系（たとえば群）の同形写像および準同形写像によって保存される性質の研究と、いくつかの条件による特徴づけの研究が主題となることである。
