Yuwakai (English: Fellowship of Reconciliation)
FOR is an international Christian peace organization that advocates absolute non-aggression. It was founded in 1914 as a result of a discussion between a German pastor and a British Quaker at a church conference held in Switzerland just before World War I. As of 1983, it has about 100,000 members in 27 countries and its headquarters is in the Netherlands. It has been involved in peace and anti-war movements during both world wars and the Vietnam War, and is currently promoting anti-nuclear movements. Japan Friendship Association (JFOR) was founded in 1926 with the help of American missionaries, and its members included Ozaki Michio, Kagawa Toyohiko, and Takara Tomomi, but it was dissolved in 1944 under the pressure of militarism.
