Shinobu

[1] Former name of a district in Fukushima Prefecture. It corresponds to the current Fukushima City. In ancient times, it formed Shinobu Province together with Date District. During the Taika Reforms, it became a district of Mutsu Province, and in 1868 ( the first year of the Meiji era ), it became part of Iwashiro Province when Mutsu Province was divided. [2] Noh play. On their way back from Kyoto to their hometown, Taro and Jiro of Shinobu are tricked by a human trafficking ship that claims to be going to Oshu at Naoi-no-tsu in Echigo Province and board the ship. The brothers are placed under house arrest on Okinoshima Island and work as salt roasters under the master, Matsuzaki Hyoe, until they are rescued by an old acquaintance from Itabashi who happens to be hunting.

[一] 福島県の旧郡名。現在の福島市にあたる。上代、伊達郡と共に信夫国を形成。大化改新のときに陸奥国の郡となり、明治元年（一八六八）陸奥国の分割により岩代国に属した。[二] 謡曲。四番目物。廃曲。作者不詳。信夫の太郎・次郎の兄弟は、京都から故郷へ帰る途中越後の国直井の津で、奥州へゆくという人買船にだまされて乗船する。沖の島で軟禁された兄弟はあるじの松崎兵衛の下で塩やきをするが、たまたま狩に来た旧知の板橋の某に助けられる。
