A Roman nobleman in late antiquity in Gaul. Born into a noble family in Lyon, he married the daughter of Avitus, a nobleman from Auvergne. In 455, he accompanied his father-in-law to Rome, recommended by the Western Emperor, and on New Year's Day the following year, he dedicated a paean to him. When Avitus was dethroned and died in 456, a rebellion arose among the Gallic nobility, but he is thought to have refrained from participating in it, and in 458, in Lyon, he dedicated a paean to the new emperor Majorian, and took up an official position under the emperor. After the emperor's death (461), he was content with a life of independence, but in 467, when Anthemius ascended to the throne, he went to Rome with a petition from Auvergne, dedicated a paean to the emperor, and was appointed governor of Rome (468).

古代末期ガリアのローマ貴族。リヨンの名家に生まれ，オーベルニュの名門貴族アウィトゥスの娘と結婚。455年西帝に推されローマに赴く岳父に同行し，翌年元日に頌詩を献呈。同456年アウィトゥス帝が失脚･死去すると，ガリア貴族層の中に謀反の動きが生じるが，彼はこれに参加せず自重したと思われ，458年リヨンで新帝マヨリアヌスに頌詩を献じ，同帝の下で官職に就いた。同帝の死(461)後は在野生活に甘んじていたが，467年アンテミウスが登位するとオーベルニュの陳情を託されてローマに赴き，同帝に頌詩を献じてローマ都督に任じられた(468)。
