An old town in Onuma District, western Fukushima Prefecture. Its center is Takada in the southern part of the Aizu Basin, and it developed as a post station, with the Tadami Line running through it. It is involved in agriculture and forestry. It produces a lot of mushrooms and wild vegetables. The rice planting festival at Isasu Shrine is famous. In October 2005, it merged with Aizu Hongo Town and Shintsuru Village in Onuma District to become Aizu Misato Town in Onuma District. Area: 195.67 km2 . Population: 15,434 (2003).
