A summer-green fern of the Ceratophyllaceae family. It is found in Japan, southern Korea, and China. Its thick rhizomes, densely covered with light brown scales, grow long and spread over tree trunks and rocks. The leaves grow to about 30 cm and have triangular blades. They are used for decoration as Ceratophyll balls and Ceratophyll wind chimes. The name Ceratophyll means "endure" because it grows on rocks without soil.
