This ideological magazine was published by Senkakusha in May 1946 by Takeya Mitsuo, Takeda Kiyoko, Tsuru Shigeto, Tsurumi Kazuko, Tsurumi Shunsuke, Maruyama Masao, Minami Hiroshi, Miyagi Otoya, and Watanabe Satoshi. Its purpose was to use logical experimental methods in the fields of thought and practice, to maintain a critical attitude in introducing British and American thought, and to consider whether it could be used to analyze and criticize Japanese society. It was initially a quarterly publication, later a monthly publication, and then a quarterly publication again. It focused on the thoughts of the masses as well as philosophy, intellectual history, linguistics, and communication theory, and also showed outstanding pioneering achievements in the study of popular culture in a wide range, including popular literature, popular songs, movies, and entertainment. 1946年5月,武谷三男,武田清子,都留重人,鶴見和子,鶴見俊輔,丸山真男,南博,宮城音弥,渡辺慧らによって先駆社より刊行された思想雑誌。その趣旨は,思索と実践の分野に論理実験的方法を用いること,英米思想の紹介には批評的態度を維持し,日本社会の分析,批判に使用可能かどうかを考えることにあった。当初は季刊,後に月刊,再び季刊となった。哲学・思想史研究,言語論,コミュニケーション論とともに大衆の思想に着目し,大衆文学,流行歌,映画,芸能など広く大衆文化の研究にもすぐれた先駆的業績を示した。
