A general term for nematodes of the Heteroderinae subfamily, which are the most important agricultural nematodes among nematodes, including the soybean cyst nematode Heterodera glycines , which is the causative agent of soybean yellows disease, and the potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis , which causes great damage to potatoes. Female adults swell to a lemon or spherical shape, and several hundred eggs mature inside the body, some of which are laid externally. They then die with the eggs still inside, forming brown cysts.

ダイズ萎黄（いおう）病の病原センチュウであるダイズシストセンチュウHeterodera glycines，ジャガイモに大きな被害をもたらすジャガイモシストセンチュウGlobodera rostochiensisなどを含む，センチュウの中で農業上もっとも重要なヘテロデラ科Heteroderinae亜科のセンチュウの総称。雌成虫はレモン型や球形に肥大し，数百個の卵は体内で成熟，一部体外に産む。その後，卵を内蔵したまま死んで褐色のシスト(包囊)となる。
