…In Japanese local communities, an organization is a group of households organized according to the proximity of their residences. The groups are broadly divided into village groups, which divide areas called villages or towns into several groups, and neighborhood groups, which group together a certain number of households. Both village groups and neighborhood groups are academic terms, and they have various names and organizational forms in different regions, and it is common for the two to coexist in a layered manner within a single local community.
