Born on April 20, 1893. While studying at Waseda University, he participated in the socialist movement, and in 1922 he participated in the formation of the Communist Party and defected to the Soviet Union. After returning to Japan, he left the Communist Party and founded the China Proletarian Party in his hometown of Hiroshima. After the war, he participated in the founding of the Socialist Party and served as a member of the Central Executive Committee. In 1946, he was elected member of the House of Representatives (elected five times). He was also Vice-Speaker of the House of Representatives. He passed away on January 9, 1974, at the age of 80.
