In 1919, Tsutsumi Shokai was reorganized to form the Far East Fisheries Co., Ltd., and in 1920, the company merged with canned food manufacturer Export Foods (established in 1912) to form Export Foods Co., Ltd. In 1921, the company merged with the former Nichiro Fisheries (established by Tamura Ichiro in 1914) and Kamchatka Fisheries to form a large fishing company focused on North Pacific fishing, and changed its name to Nichiro Fisheries Co., Ltd.
