Test paper used to detect sulfide ions. It is a piece of filter paper soaked in a lead(II) acetate solution and then dried, and is also called lead sugar paper. When it is moistened with water and a sample solution containing sulfide ions is dropped onto it, lead sulfide is produced and the paper turns black (if there is only a small amount it turns brown).
