A Swedish patriotic group. It was founded in Stockholm in 1811 under the influence of Romanticism. Its predecessor was a university student social organization in Uppsala. Its goal was to revive the free spirit, masculine courage, and honest hearts of the Goths of old, and its members were mainly poets and historians. Famous leaders included writer Jacob Adlerbeth, history professor Hjøjerg, the father of Swedish gymnastics Ring, poet Tegner, and poet Arvid August Afzelius.
