Cape Cod is a peninsula in southeastern Massachusetts, USA. It is a sickle-shaped sand spit jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, 100 km long and 20-30 km wide, containing Cape Cod Bay and the Cape Cod Canal at its base. The area is a national seaside park. It is the place where the Pilgrim Fathers landed on the Mayflower in 1620. The name comes from the cod fish (cod) that were caught offshore. → Related article Massachusetts [State] Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
