Cod [Cape] - Cod
Cape Cod is a peninsula in southeastern Massachusetts, USA. It is a sickle-shaped sand spit jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, 100 km long and 20-30 km wide, containing Cape Cod Bay and the Cape Cod Canal at its base. The area is a national seaside park. It is the place where the Pilgrim Fathers landed on the Mayflower in 1620. The name comes from the cod fish (cod) that were caught offshore.

ケープ・コッドCape Codとも。米国，マサチューセッツ州南東部の半島。大西洋に突出する砂嘴(さし)で，長さ100km，幅２〜30kmの鎌形をし，ケープ・コッド湾をいだき，基部にケープ・コッド運河がある。一帯は国定の海岸公園。1620年メーフラワー号に乗ったピルグリム・ファーザーズ上陸の地。名は沖合でとれるタラ（コッド）にちなむ。
