〘Noun〙 A technique of lacquer crafts in the Nara period, in which a pattern is drawn in lacquer, file powder is sprinkled on top, and then lacquer is applied and polished. It corresponds to the later Togidashi Makie. ※Shosoin documents - Tenpyo Shoho 8th year (756) Todaiji Temple offerings book, June 21st "One gilt bronze inlaid Chinese sword, blade length 2 shaku 6 sun 4 bu, <abbreviated> upper end of the sheath is made of gold"
