A town in Shozu County in the northwest of Shodo Island in northern Kagawa Prefecture. The main settlement is at the neck of the island at the western end, and it is the transportation and tourism center of the island, with regular ferries running from Takamatsu City. The town produces mandarin oranges and potatoes, and also raises livestock. Fishing is also thriving. Area: 74.37 km2 . Population: 15,123 (2010). 香川県北部，小豆(しょうど)島北西部を占める小豆(しょうず)郡の町。主集落は西端の陸繋(りくけい)島頸(けい)部にあり，高松市から定期船が通じ，島の交通・観光の中心地。ミカン，ジャガイモを産し，畜産も行う。漁業も盛ん。74.37km2。１万5123人（2010）。
