The Japanese era name (nengo). It was the era name of Emperor Gosuzaku from 1037 to 1040 during the Heian period. The previous era name was Chogen . The era name was Chokyu . The era name was changed on April 21, 1037 (Chogen 10). The era name was changed when Emperor Gosuzaku ascended to the throne (the beginning of the era). The name is based on the Spring and Autumn Annals or the Book of Jin . During the Choreki era, Fujiwara no Yorimichi was in charge of regent politics. In 1036 (Chogen 9), Emperor Goichijo passed away, and Emperor Gosuzaku, his full brother, ascended to the throne. 日本の元号(年号)。平安時代の1037年から1040年まで、後朱雀(ごすざく)天皇の代の元号。前元号は長元(ちょうげん)。次元号は長久(ちょうきゅう)。1037年(長元10)4月21日改元。後朱雀天皇の即位にともない行われた(代始改元)。『春秋(しゅんじゅう)』または『晋書(しんじょ)』を出典とする命名。長暦年間は、藤原頼通(よりみち)による摂関政治が行われていた。1036年(長元9)に後一条(ごいちじょう)天皇の崩御により、同母弟の後朱雀天皇が即位した。翌1037年(長暦1)には、頼通は養女の嫄子(げんし)を入内させ、中宮に立てている。
