Nizaemon Kataoka (11th generation)

Born: 1857 [Died] October 16, 1934. Kabuki actor. His stage name was Matsushimaya. He was the son of Nizaemon VIII and was formerly known as Gato. His elder brother was Nizaemon X. As a leading figure in Kamigata Kabuki, he shared the same popularity as Nakamura Ganjiro I. His performance as Yojiro in "Horikawa" was highly praised. He selected "Kataoka Jyuunishu" (The Twelve Kataoka Works), which he added his own originality and ingenuity to.
